How to Rig Your Ezzy Sail: A Comprehensive Guide

Rigging your Ezzy sail correctly ensures optimal performance and longevity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

1. Preparing Your Ezzy Sail

  • Unroll the Ezzy Sail: Lay your sail flat on a clean surface.
  • Insert the Mast: Slide the mast into the mast sleeve.

2. Downhaul

  • Attach the Downhaul Line: Thread it through the pulleys at the base of the sail.
  • Tighten: Pull the downhaul line until the sail flattens and the desired tension is achieved.
  • Align the mark with the base of the mast to ensure you achieve the correct downhaul tension (when using an Ezzy mast).
  • If you're not using an Ezzy mast, downhaul until the leech opens to the marks. Then, align the mark with the bottom of the mast to consistently apply the same amount of downhaul each time.3. Boom Setup
  • Attach the Boom: Secure the boom at the correct height on the mast.
  • Outhaul Adjustment: Thread the outhaul line through the clew and tighten to the specified tension.

4. Fine-Tuning your Ezzy Sail

  • Check the Tension: Ensure both downhaul and outhaul are correctly tensioned.
  • Adjust Battens: Tighten or loosen the batten tensioners to remove any wrinkles and achieve the desired sail shape.

5. Final Checks

  • Inspect the Ezzy Sail: Look for any twists or misalignments.
  • Test the Rig: Simulate sailing conditions to ensure everything is secure and correctly set up.
